People have been observing Halloween almost as long as pawnshops have been around.

But the age old tradition of dressing up in costumes, carving pumpkins and trick-or-treating should not be masked by forgetting about safety.

The National Safety Council suggests that adults and children keep these tips in mind:



•    Watch for children
•    Check  your treats
•    Go to houses you know
•    Walk on the sidewalk
•    Carry a flashlight
